About Västankvarn

Västankvarn experimental farm is part of Novia University of Applies Sciences. The farm operates as an educational farm and serves as an experimental and developmental unit within the Department of natural resources.

Crop trials have been conducted on Västankvarn Experimental farm for more than 20 years. Through a collaboration between Novia and the advisory society Nylands Svenska Lantbrukssällskap the farm has evolved into a sovereign experimental station with personnel and equipment to conduct trials independently.

The aim is to conduct applied testing and development that serves both farms and industry.

This means that we can also offer testing and development services to different partners.

Västankvarn experimental farm is located in Inkoo, about 60 km west of Helsinki. The farm has 180 ha arable land and 360 ha of forest. The trials are set on 10 to 15 ha and consist of around 6000 plots per year. The farm also practises intensive dairy production.
